A good piano teacher can professionally inspire the student

“It is the right of every citizen to be taught the basic elements of music, to be handed the key with which he can enter the locked world of music. To open the ear and heart of the millions to understand music poses a serious challenge…”

-Zoltán Kodály

ABOUT MY BACKGROUND — I grew up during the start of the 90’s in San Jose and started my formal training at age 4 in classical and jazz piano at Almaden School of Music.

After 7 years of music training, I started high school and became highly involved in performance and theater arts. A few years after that, my family relocated to Murrieta in Southern California. During this time was when I pursued self-teaching on piano. I began experimenting with harmonies of all sorts paired with vocals, composing musical pieces, creating in the moment with my friends.

In 2011 after starting my first year in college, I was offered a job as a piano instructor for a piano teaching company called Keyboard Educators. I started my music teaching career at age 20, receiving mentorship and guidance by my music teachers at San Francisco State and many professional musicians across the Bay Area. It was during this time when I discovered that I absolutely love teaching and working with kids.

A few years later, I transferred to Cal State San Marcos in 2014 and began offering private piano lessons to students of all ages throughout the San Diego and Riverside area while completing a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Performing Arts & Music Technology. Shortly after graduating in 2017, I moved to Portland to find more professional opportunities and possibly expand my teaching service. Since then, it has been such a pleasure to teach piano and music to hundreds of children and adults in churches, private and public schools, daycares and homes.
